I liked using the cotton with this project. I realize that cotton can be uncomfortable to work with because it doesn’t stretch quite as much, but it knits up nicely. This mercerized cotton has a great shine that I love, and lends itself very well to evenness. Evenness is good.
The pattern that I started to use was my own. It was just a series of purl/knit patterns from a knitting book that I planned to make in rows. I decided to rip it out because I didn’t like the way I had done the edging. It was starting to curl on the edges. I had this pattern bookmarked somewhere, and decided to do a few in this simple square, then make the more complicated patterned ones later. I didn’t have enough time to make the extra one or two, and I didn’t want her gift to be late. Ahh well, more yarn to make some for myself I guess.
What Have I Learned?
I made way more mistakes than I’d like (3 between the two pieces), but I didn’t have the time to rip back and re-knit. I guess that’s the problem with making a deadline for yourself, I didn’t take as much time on it as I’d have liked. As it is they were already pretty quick projects.
