Super Simple Comfort Mittens
Progress

I had a pair of mittens growing up that were made of that really thin stretchy material that one-size-fits-all gloves can be found in. I loved them because they hugged close against my hands, they were made of a thin material that could be worn with other mittens, and were incredibly comfortable. I was inspired to make a pair of mittens with similar qualities out of a more natural material.
These were so easy to make, and it’s kind of funny that I learned the techniques necessary to make these on a pair of more complicated gloves first. Designing a pair of mittens is incredibly easy I found, and I plan to make more! The only problem was that I had a hardtime actually following the pattern properly on the second mitten. I had to rip back so many times!
What Have I Learned
I made these mittens asymetrical, and exactly identical. This means that when worn the decreases are on the front of one hand, and the back of the other. At first I could feel the difference in tension, but it changed with wear and I don’t notice it any longer. However, my attempt to make ambidextrous mittens didn’t work quite as planned. I’ve found that when making mittens that will fit on both hands, it’s necessary to make round and evenly decreased fingertips. The flat fingertips (using a short-row toe mthod) tend to be crooked on both hands.
